if tumblr was a character in a high school anime they would eat lunch on the roof with the cool kids everyday
The grimy coffee table felt almost comforting against my scuffed elbows. I shifted my thighs and scribbled lightly in my notebook. There was absolutely nothing to do. Nothing to truly think about. I mean, of course you could think about a lot of things if you tried hard enough, if you chose to be more profound. But I was in the mood for simplicity. Time to give depth and analysis a rain check.
It’s days like these, really, these warm days with the occasionally brisk breeze, these absolutely symmetrical days, in which I find myself not really needing to think.
I sighed into my cup of coffee and embraced the sour smoke that puffed back at me. These little reciprocations. The sun-dappled tree covering my bare shoulders, the vacant train station providing a comforting silence. It was all very accommodating.
And these days, these perfect days, they don’t occur often. So you can imagine my discouragement when he came in.

Meulin works at a shitty run down ice cream shop stationed at her college after classes are over and Calliope, a professors young daughter with severe vitiligo comes in there to draw cute stories and pictures. She’s incredibly sensitive about her appearance, despite the fact that not many people seem to give her a hard time for it. Meulin likes to take time off from ice cream scooping duties (which isn’t that hard due to a severe lack of customers) to squeal over Calliope’s adorable characters.
One day, Calliope arrives at the shop completely disheartened because one of the other kids that resided in the college grounds teased her due to her skin condition. As Meulin attempts to comfort her, two people, a boy around the age of thirteen and a man looking to be around his late thirties steps in. The man, apparently the newest daycare manager for the kids of the college professors (and the occasional students), apologizes for what appears to be his little brother’s behavior, claiming that the younger brother was interested if anything. The man then introduces himself as Kurloz Makara, and Meulin attempts to console things. Due to her being hard of hearing, it’s harder for to speak very clearly. When Kurloz realizes this, he begins signing to her, and ever since that meeting they’ve been seeing each other more and more.
